My mom and I got in yesterday after a really early morning. Everything really went very smoothly all around, other than the fact that airplane travel sucks in general, everything went great! We got into Boston on Thursday night a little late and got to my sister's around 10:00. So nothing exciting that night. I borrowed an awesome super duper double pump from my friend and it saved my life, really . . .okay not my life, but definitely my boobs :) Friday we spent the day in Hingham, MA which is a really cute town where my sister works as a nanny and I even got to just relax for like 3 hours straight. I literally didn't budge my butt off the couch for anything other than a couple of Oreos and a bathroom break.
Friday night we drove to Hartford, CT and had the half-marathon on Saturday morning. It was awesome! We had such a gorgeous sunny day that was not hot, not windy, just perfect. I was able to achieve my personal record, or the best out of 2 half-marathon times :) I did it in 2:08 and I swear that I had to wait about 3-5 minutes for a bathroom at one point so, let's just say 2:00 :) That means less than 10 minute miles! I was pretty happy with that and felt pretty good. My mom and sister walked and totally kicked ass, they bested their time last year by half and hour! Here is a picture of us before the race started.
They had awesome post race food and entertainment and massages . . . very nice. It was such an inspiring thing to be a part of. I ran with and got passed by people 30-50 years my senior and one guy even was running after having had a stroke (you could tell by his leg and arm atrophy). And I finished right before the marathon winners came in and that was just awesome to see! I got all teary when my mom and sister came in and watching all the marathoners finish. . . it was really cool. I'm thinking maybe I'll do more, but for now, I'm taking a break from those long ass runs. We met up with my friend Ginger in Cambridge on Sunday and had a great time catching up with her! We got to walk around and just hang out around all the intellectuals of Harvard . . .I think I'm smarter now just by osmosis :) It was a great trip and so great to see my sister and be in Boston. Although I didn't get to have even one Dunkin Donut that I was so looking forward to. I kept putting it off and then it turned out we didn't have any time before our departure to the airport on Monday. Oh well, just as well, I guess.
I have to say even though I had a great time, I missed the kids and Erich so much! Sometimes I would well up thinking about them. It was so good to see them all! The kids met us at the airport which was awesome and Trevor had no problem re-establishing the nursing :) It sounds like they had a great time with Grandma and dad, and now I'm sure I'm more appreciated all around. Here are a couple of more pictures from the weekend.
