So, as always, it was crazy to try and get outta here last Tuesday, I spent all of Monday running around, cleaning and packing and trying 3, that's right 3 times to get my oil changed but everytime there were like 9 cars! Tuesday we got off without too much trouble. Trevor did take a tumble down the stairs before we left, yikes! We were packing the car and he is getting really good at the stairs but he must've just gotten too excited. Anyways, he was okay while of course Erich and I freaked out :)
It was my mom's birthday on Tuesday so we got to Pullman in time for dinner and birthday dessert. Hope my mom had fun :) My sister Mary and grandpa Iler were in town too and it was great to see the whole family. Then we got up for the Johnson parade on Wed and met up with the Harper family. Johnson is about 10 miles from Pullman and essentially the parade marched the entire town, one street. It's a huge thing and there were tons of people. We had a lot of fun. The rest of the day was spent pretty much just hanging out and hitting a BBQ with my dad. Oh, yea, me and Darby went to see Ratatouille with my parents . . .what a cute movie! We did stop at the indian Reservation on Tuesday and picked up some fireworks to set off with the kids. That was fun, pretty tame, per my request, but I think Darby enjoyed it. The kids were exhausted and were in bed before the fireworks show would have even started.
The next couple of days were spent doing pretty much nothing, very nice. We hit the waterpark in Moscow which was AWESOME! I wish we had something like that here, we would live there all summer long. Trevor and Darby loved it and seeing as it was about 100 degrees out, it was perfect. I only worked out once while I was home, I ran Thursday morning at about 8 and it was already about 80 degrees and no shade on the trail. Yikes, it was scorching and I'm such a total wuss when it comes to the heat. Thursday and Friday night Erich and I got to go out with our friends the Harpers on Thursday and then others on Friday. So nice to get out and have a drink, an adult drink, and enjoy some adult conversation. We did talk about our kids but probably only about 80% of the time . . .is that bad?
On our last day there we went on a nice walk with my mom, Mary and her boyfriend Mike. It was much nicer temps out! Then it was off to a BBQ at the Harpers with all of Erich's close friends from High school and their kids. There were 11 kids from all the guys we graduated with and they were all around the same age. So cute to see them all and made me sad that we don't get to do it more often. We had so much fun.
Our drive home was uneventful, Trevor and Darby both did pretty good. I, however, complained the whole way I think. Good thing Erich was listening to the Mariner's game so he didn't hear me most of the time :) It was nice to be home and I was expecting a great night's sleep last night because we were all back in our own beds but alas, the kids still woke up quite a bit and I just haven't been sleeping at all. Crazy dreams about hairy mammoths that can only be killed by throwing a baseball at it and could smell human blood from miles away. Bizarro world!
So we are having a pretty chill day, Darby slept in until 10! It was great! We have to do all the laundry and shopping still but I'm keeping it pretty low key to get the kids back into routine. We won't have much time until Rich and Anna get here on Wednesday to stay for a couple of weeks. Then Erich and I are off to Seattle on Friday, then to the lake the next weekend with friends, and then it's August!!!! Where has the summer gone? I'd better get to work and unpack a little . . . enjoy the pics from our trip :)
