Happy Birthday Darby!

So Darby had her official birthday today . . .it was a pretty good day, minus the climax of utter meltdown this afternoon and evening. We had a great birthday party on Monday afternoon with all her friends, it was gorgeous and all the kids just played outside, very fun. Then we had some crazy Seattle like weather with torrential rains that kept us inside for Tuesday and Wednesday. But today it finally cleared up a bit and we were able to play outside, thank god! We had preschool here today which was the first time with all 6 kids, plus Trevor makes 7! It was crazy!!!! Very fun but I was exhausted! I have a lot of respect for people who can do that every single day with more kids . . .yikes.

This afternoon Darby started to have little mini-meltdowns where I could do no right . . .I'd give her a choice, she'd pick, I'd give it to her, she'd scream, over and over and over again! I was at the end of my rope and really trying to be nice to the birthday girl. We had a great dinner of pizza, then chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream to top it all off. Yea, I know, just what a little girl at the end of her rope who's prone to meltdowns needs, more sugar, but hey, I couldn't deny her the birthday cake. Anyways, tonight was the tantrum to end all tantrums! I was actually a little scared, it seemed like maybe she might have tourette's syndrome or something. . .oh boy it was a doozy. I hope it was just this whole week of chaos and sugar that finally pushed her over the edge and that she will do much better tomorrow, I'll keep you posted. At least Erich will be home tomorrow to weather the potential storm of a 3 year old.
