Summer Vacation

Amazingly enough we have actually been back from our summer vacation for about a week already! Time is once again flying by now that we are back at home with the start of school coming on fast.

Our vacation to Torch Lake, Michigan was, of course, wonderful and fairly relaxing. . . which I don't think you can often say about traveling with 3 kids. We flew in on a Saturday night and when we woke the next morning the sun was shining and the lake was awaiting us :) We spent an entire week, swimming, boating, wakeboarding, and enjoying ourselves with Erich's family.

We got to meet Simon, Erich's sister Leah's son. He is about 6 months and a very cute and active cousin for Darby, Trev, and B to play with. They did love their cousin and had a great time playing with him. And surprisingly Brendan was super gentle with him. . . he will pummel the older kids, throw things, pull hair, hit them, but with Simon, he was a sweetheart. Check him out in this video.

Darby, Anna, and I ran in a fun run on really the only overcast and rainy day, which was perfect! Darby and Anna finished the 5K and I ran the 10K, it was fun and the first time in all my years on torch that I've run in it. . .it would be fun to make it a tradition . . .if we can make it out there every year for it that is.

Darby, Trevor, and Brendan all LOVED the water. Darby was actually swimming, crawl stroke, around the lake and probably spent multiple hours in the lake everyday, sometimes into the wee hours (wee for a 6 year old, like 9 o'clock) of the night. Trevor was fearless and just dove right in. He wasn't so interested in swimming in the middle of the lake but had a lot of fun "whaling" with grandma. Trevor also mastered the kayak and had a great time paddling all by himself. Brendan spent hours in the water too. He would grab our hand and walk us around the water throwing a torpedo and making us play fetch :)

It's always nice to be home but sometimes it feels like we are suddenly bombarded with a mile long to do list. . . I'm trying not to be overwhelmed but it's been tough. Anyways, here's a link to our pictures:
