We're talking first grade

I can't believe that I'm having conversations with Darby about going into the first grade next year!!! I know kindergarten is kind of the big one but I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around first grade. K has just been a pretty easy transition for me. . .probably because she only goes 4 days a week and I still get to hang out with her on school days. She will be staying at Middlecreek Montessori and entering their elementary program which I'm pretty jazzed about. She is too which is what I want most for my kids in their education, the enjoyment and excitement to learn. That and to get into Harvard, full scholarship of course, get an amazing job, make a bunch of money, buy me houses and vacations and a full service spa at my disposal everyday for the rest of my life . . .is that too much to expect?

Darby reminds me so much of myself sometimes, interested in everything and pretty good at most things she tries. When asked if she had to choose one activity to be involved in between basketball, skiing, soccer, tee ball, swimming, Kindermusik, and guitar lessons she said "Basketball. And skiing. And tee ball. And . . . " you get the picture. I'm glad she's interested in so many things but I'm thinking we'll have to narrow down her focus next year, we're going a little batty with all our activities! Almost 6 year olds should be able to drive themselves to practices and school and stuff right?

Darby is doing such a great job on her guitar. I'll have to post some more video but she is just doing so awesome! I'm so proud of her. She even took her guitar to school to play for her classmates and she was so proud of herself! She's making up words to songs and everything, a true performer :)

She starts soccer officially tomorrow with Erich as her coach. They had a pretty serious meeting for the coaches . . .pretty serious for Kindergarten-first grade. Although I think you can't take 12 5-7 year olds running wild on a soccer field too seriously :) I guess that officially makes me a "soccer mom." I've got the mini van, I've got the bag of balls, I got the husband coach, I am pimped out! Watch out Bozeman Blitzz!
