Relief

Oh, this weekend was a much needed relief of what has been our life lately . . .we did absolutely nothing. Well, I pretty much did nothing, Erich worked pretty hard in the yard, while I worked hard on being pregnant and milking it for all its worth :) We also had a relief from Cougar football for the week, they neither won nor lost, awesome!

Not much to report here though. I had a great trip to Denver to see my sisters, aunt, mom, sister-in-law, and long lost cousins. We had a lot of fun and packed lots of stuff into the weekend. My sisters, aunt and mom walked the Denver half-marathon and did awesome! It was fun to cheer them on and as always I cried like a baby during the finish. It's just so inspiring . . .and I therefore am officially making it my goal to finish the half-marathon (running) next October when baby Pumpkin Head (as we're lovingly calling him) is about 6 months old. I saw a woman finish running with an oxygen tank! If she can do it, I can too.

Erich did great with the kids but I was exhausted when I got home. It made for a long week of unproductiveness on my part. That obviously leaked over into the weekend but I think tomorrow I'll be raring to go . . .

After a couple of weeks of me being the poster-mom for all bad parenting techniques I think we finally have things under control. I was really feeling the pain for a while when the kids could just not get along, I was getting lip from my 4 year old, and I wanted to muzzle my 2 year old to stop him from screaming. This week was much better :) They are playing great together, doing all sorts of pretend play which is really fun.

Darby has continued her love of drawing and writing and has probably gone through about 2 trees a week with all her drawings and "books." She's getting so good at stuff, and can spell and write about 50 words without help. She still isn't keen on wanting to read all by herself, but it's obvious she is capable. Trevor is a little firecracker, and although I'm hoping it's a phase, he's not a great listener. He continues to know exactly what he wants and how he wants things done. . .he's very thorough, maybe a tad obsessive. He's been singing his ABC's and loves his "ABCDEFG" water bottle.

Trevor has also hit 2 big milestones in his life . . .he's stopped nursing (finally!) and he is sleeping in "mys own big bed." Yes, yes, those are my two parenting secrets, I have been nursing for almost 4.5 years continuously and loved it, up until about 2 months ago. . . Also, I love sleeping with my kids . . .again they both slept in our bed until they were 2 years old. I miss Trevor some nights but I can count on him waking up about 6 or 7 and coming in for some snuggle time for the last hour or so just like Darby. The next step is completing the potty training . . .otherwise I think we will all be ready for Pumpkin Head to fit in nicely with our family lifestyle.

So, here's some pictures from my weekend and some other random stuff. The Denver album has lots of pictures and multiples of some because I wanted my family to be able to download them, so sorry there are so many. Hope everyone has a great week!

Glad to hear you had a relaxing weekend. Denver looked like so much fun with the ladies! Such big accomplishments for Trevor. Lila still joins us in bed between 3-5am every morning...I love it, good snuggle time. Before you know it you will have another little one joining you!!! Hope you are off to a great start of the week!
