Ah, peace and quiet

So, I finally have a little peace and quiet to sit and blog a little bit about the last week or so. Darby and Trevor were both exhausted tonight and after a couple of meltdowns they are down for the count. I don't even know where to start with my stories, let's see, a long, long, time ago in a far away land . . .

Rich and Anna arrived last Wednesday night and just left this morning so we got Grandma and Grandpa-itis for 4 full days, the detoxification should take half that time at least :) We got some nice shopping in for birthdays, got a swingset put up, weeded out a terribly weedy garden, played some games, ate some food, and celebrated a birthday, a great time had by all! Darby got to go swimming yesterday with G and G all by herself, I heard she had a lot of fun and was showing off all her swimming skills to the perfect audience. I love it when family is here and I get to fully take advantage of having someone else entertain my children. I always thought that I'd feel all territorial and stuff, but nope . . . as soon as Rich and Anna got here the kids were theirs! I take shameless advantage of them, especially Anna who barely gets a break from Darby's "ggrannnnd-ma" while she's here.

Trevor enjoyed his birthday I think. You can see from the photos that he did get messy but luckily didn't ingest enough of the sugary cake to make him sick. I, of course, baked him a totally natural, organic, cake without ANY sugar . . .yea, right! The cake was a low sugar carrot cake but the frosting was full on cream-cheese, butter frosting, so good! Darby liked the frosting the best :) Darby had lots of fun with all of Trevor's new toys and enjoyed ripping them all open for him. But, hey, he's one, how's he to know?

We had a nice breakfast of eggs and pancakes before Rich and Anna left this morning (I had planned on omelets and fancy waffles, but who was I kidding? I'm no gourmet chef). Then we spent the day lazing around. It was rainy all day so we couldn't play outside but we hit the mall and saw Shrek 3. A pretty fun time all around but Trevor was bored and tired through the last half, Erich and I had to take turns walking around with him, until he finally fell asleep. The movie was good and I think Darby enjoyed it. The mall is such a great place on a rainy day! We played on the trainset at Barnes and Noble, rode the carousel (a tiny one about 4 feet diameter) and had endless people watching. Trevor loves it, he has the biggest grin on his face all up and down the mall.

So it's onto the next birthday child . . .we'll have a busy couple of weeks. Hopefully it's nice out so we can take advantage of our brand new swingset that Erich and his dad erected! They did a great job and it is a great birthday present . . .from last year . . .that's right, that's how long it took Erich to supposedly do the research and actually put it up. He's such a guy, if I really want anything done I have to plan a year in advance and a year later, boom! it will be done :)

There's more to say I'm sure but I'm blanking, maybe I need a nice bubblebath to refresh my mind . . .or maybe a bubblebath AND a beer . . .mmmmm, I'm outta here.
