The week from H-E-double hockey sticks!

I'm not sure what is going on in the world or universe right now but Darby and I can't seem to sync up this week. It has been one battle after another after another and I can count on more than one, maybe two, hands the number of times I've just wanted to scream at her or throw in the towel and wonder off by myself. Maybe it was too much candy and sugar frying the brain from Halloween or maybe its the grandparent withdrawal or maybe even the big change from sleeping comfortably with her dad to her own bed in her own bedroom. Who knows and unfortunately Darby is not one for heart to heart talks with her mom yet :) I'm trying to stay positive and patient, I'm using time outs, bribery and distraction like they're going out of style.

Even though she's been a pill, I still have a hard time keeping a straight face about some things . . .like she is learning how to barter with me about things, for example today she was playing with my wallet in the car on the way home from the store (smart, I know) and I asked her to give it to me before we got out of the car. I was firm, I told her she was not getting out until she gave me my wallet. She looked at me so sweetly and said, "Let me carry it inside and I will give it to you then, okay?" Pretty smart and I had to laugh. She's also parroting things back to me. . . when she talks back to me or screams at me I tell her she should not speak to me that way, and the other day in Home Depot, I told her sternly to sit her little behind in the cart and she said "you can't talk to me that way mom!" Oooo, I am in trouble with this one I think, already sassin me! We are going to have a long 16 years :)
