Infant Potty Training

So when Darby was a baby I heard from a few people about this "infant potty training." I bought the book and proceeded to read the first chapter and potty trained Darby as a toddler, not an infant, obviously I was not very successful at the infant part. I used some of the techniques they suggested but decided that it was WAY to much hassle. It's really mostly parent training anyway, you just learn how to read your child's communication when they are about to go poop and pee and then you just hang them over the toilet . . .so I guess you never have to use diapers if you get really good.

Where am I going with this story you ask, well, today Trevor pooped and peed in the toilet! For the last couple of days Trevor has been having only one major BM a day, and I mean major! Yesterday it got all over my pants and up his back, it was lovely, thank goodness we were at home. I told Erich about it and he asked if it was around the same time everyday and it was in fact around the same time. So he suggested that I try holding him over the toilet a few times during that time to see if we could save a mess and a diaper. Needless to say after his nap today I went to change his diaper and thought I'd give it a go . . .Success!!! Now I am definately not going to make a huge effort to scramble to the toilet everytime I think he has to pee but if I don't ever have to change a poopy diaper or handwash poop out of my clothes, I will be a happy camper. Darby was really supportive too, she said "good job pooping on the potty Trevor." Maybe I can just delegate the job of potty training to Darby when Trevor is truly ready . . .

So can you count how many times I said the word poop in this post? I think it was a lot, sorry about all the potty language :)

Wow, graphic, I can't wait for Trevor to grow up and read that.
