All sorts of stuff

This entry is going to have a lot and I mean a lot of information, so if you're not interested in the whole story, here's the short version:
Went away for the weekend, Lewis and Clark Caverns, Fairmont Hot Springs, checked out Phillipsburg, came home, need to vacation without kids!

Now for the long version. . .
Erich had the great idea of getting away for the weekend because everytime we spend the weekend at home it constantly reminds us of what we have to do. Anyways, he's always wanted to go to Phillipsburg because he thought it would be a great place to buy some property for later but we'd never been there. So on our way to Phillipsburg we stopped off at the Lewis and Clark Caverns. They were amazing! I would, however, only recommend it for adults and kids over 3. Darby did exceptionally well despite the fact that you are in the dark caves for an hour and half and you can't go ahead of the tour guide, turn back, eat food, drink water, touch things or talk above a whisper . . .you can imagine how hard that was for little miss Darby. But like I said she did awesome and Trevor slept through the whole thing.

After the Caverns we headed to Fairmont Hot Springs for some relaxation. The kids had a great time in the pools and they were the perfect size for Darby to walk around in. It was not too hot and not crowded which was nice. I have to say that I love staying in hotels, but with 2 kids . . .not so much fun. It was tough to get Darby and Trevor to sleep and then it was early so what could Erich and I do but . . .go to sleep. After a nice dip in the pool this morning we were off to Phillipsburg on the Pintler Scenic Loop. It was pretty gorgeous. I'm ashamed to say that it was my first time to those places and I've lived in Montana for 6 years.

Phillipsburg wasn't exactly what Erich had in mind but had a beautiful little downtown area with the Sweet Palace. Yummy :) There was also this sweet playground by the old historic high school, it had stuff so cool I would have loved playing on it for hours, okay, maybe a few minutes, but that's more than I can say for most playgrounds. Phillipsburg is really close to Discovery Ski Area and Georgetown Lake which are two pluses for Erich and the scenery is really beautiful but I think it's just a little too small for our liking. So that was our trip, we made it home safe and sound. Now Erich and I need a vacation from our vacation . . .it's hard work these days :)

So here's a couple of tidbits on the kids that are just totally random. Darby cried really hard when we left Sierra with our friends on our way out of town. She kept asking "where's my dog?" It was too cute and the first time we've seen her get emotional like that over the pets. Trevor is starting to play with toys and he loves his little miniature Whooz-it. If it was out of his line of sight in the car he started to cry. And his concentration face while he's trying to control his still shaky arms is tongue out, eyes crossed and saliva bubbles galore. And last but not least, Trevor is on the move, he can now move across the floor by rolling and pushing with his legs. He rolled for the first time from his back to his tummy today. Big milestones checked off our list :)

Is that enough for now? Check out all the cool picks at our flickr site.
