I am beat

and it has been over a week since I've blogged. . . I must apologize, I will get back into the swing of things eventually. We have just been busy busy over the last week, including a birthday, a septic system back up and 3 BBQs in 5 days, ye-ikes. So last weekend I officially entered my 30s . . .you know 30 isn't really that old but there's something about 31! I was at the grocery store today and they had that little sign up that said to buy alcohol you had to be born in the 1987 or earlier and it made me feel REALLY old. I had a great day, just hung out with the fam, Erich and I saw The Dark Knight (really really good by the way), and we took the kids out to eat. Erich made me a large picture of the family but a mosaic one, it is pretty cool. Then he gave me the day off, supposed to be on Sunday but that's when the shit storm happened.

Sunday morning as Erich was preparing the kids for the fair he realized something didn't smell right in the downstairs basement bathroom. . .turns out it wasn't right and since we don't usually go down there that much we don't know how long things had been backed up. But it was everywhere, we had to rip up the carpet in the bathroom, the closet and about 2 feet into the basement bedroom. We had Klean King come in and do the real dirty work so that was nice. We don't know what caused it but it was something clogged between the house and the septic, the Rooter guy helped us out with that. . . he answered the phone "It's a great Mr. Rooter day". . .and I just had to think you have to be a pretty special person to stay so upbeat when the only people calling you are people who are typically up to their elbows in backed up plumbing, yuck! So anyways Sunday was a bust for everyone, especially Erich who worked his little butt off to get things livable down there again.

This week I spent only one night home for dinner which is nice on one hand but kind of wore me out. I didn't know what to do last night when I actually had to think of something to make for dinner :) So since I didn't get my day last weekend, Erich graciously postponed it to today and it has been great. I got myself a pedicure, went and saw Mama Mia (which I also loved and bawled like a baby during the mom/daughter getting ready for the wedding song), got my grocery shopping done (15 minutes, in and out, amazing what you can do without kids), and then I got a little nap. Ah, but soon everyone will be home and it will be back to work for me and this time I know exactly what I'm going to make for dinner.

It is hot here right now but we're staying pretty cool, hope everyone else is enjoying themselves in this dwindling summer.

Hope your birthday was great! Your day yesterday sounded wonderful, now I can't wait to see Mama Mia, always nice to have some time to do girly things w/o the kiddos. Sounded much needed after your Septic Sunday last week.....Ick, didn't sound like fun....
