Post Holiday Meltdowns

Man, my kids are tired with a capital T! It's so easy to forget that they were not getting adequate sleep and having way too much fun around the holidays. We have just been going on crazy eating and sleeping habits lately. Friday night Erich took the kids to a bball game while I went to a wine party and the kids didn't get to sleep until 9:30 or so, then we got up, went skiing all day without a great lunch or dinner, went to bed at a quasi-normal time. Then on Sunday night we had friends and their kids over to watch the Bobcats beat Oregon State at basketball, didn't get to bed til 10:30. Yesterday went over to friend's house for New Year's Eve and didn't get to bed til 10:00ish. Today, after heading to the hot springs without lunch and swimming our butts off, we finally had a meltdown. Darby was crying about every little thing . . .poor girl, she must be sooo tired, so tired that she can't even sleep . . .that's the worst. But now they are both sleeping soundly and starting tomorrow we are back on schedule.

We are starting preschool up again on Thursday so that will be nice. Darby has been playing school over the last two weeks. "No mom, I can't do that right now because I have to go to school" so I know she's missed it. Erich did some nice work this weekend on getting up the trim in Darby and Trevor's rooms . . .yes, it has been over a year since the original stuff was taken down. That's how we roll here in Bozeman :) It's good to have things rolling though, now we'll hopefully get some more things done in 2008. Trevor's getting some more teeth in and is VERY cranky and whiny, poor guy. He now communicates his want for teething tablets and tylenol. I also performed a little experiment with the potty training this weekend. . . not so successful. I think I may have missed my window of opportunity with him. He's very headstrong and would hold his pee until I gave up trying to put him on the potty and finally put a diaper on him. Sigh. Well, he does usually pee or poop or both every morning on the toilet when he gets up and lets us know when he has a dirty diaper, so I guess we're not doing too bad. I just don't really remember when Darby trained but I know she was pretty much in underwear when Trevor was born. So I figure better get started, laying the groundwork, as soon as possible with T :) Anyways, I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year's, goodbye holidays, hello normal life.
