Things I promised myself I wouldn't say

Darby keeps reminding me that I am becoming the mom I told myself I would never become . . . you know say all the things like "because I said so" and "This is for your own good." These are two phrases that Darby has picked up, "I'm not kidding" and "that's what happens." For example, I was trying to get her shoes on to go out and she kept kicking her feet and I was getting frustrated. I must have said "I'm not kidding Darby, cooperate." So she started saying "I'm not kidding, I'm not kidding" and laughing and laughing. . . not so funny for me and I wasn't kidding. I have also said "that's what happens" like when she bonks her head doing something I told her was dangerous, you know, "that's what happens when you rough house on the bed." So she's started repeating it back to me when I do "oh shit" things, like drop a glass of milk, "that's what happens, mom." Oh these kids are so smart :)
